Principal Weekly Update
October 9, 2017
Hello Lee Parents,
Hope you had a wonderful weekend together with your children!
It is hard to believe that it is already the second week in October, I don’t know where the time has gone! It is sure to be another busy week, full of new learning experiences for all!
It is very exciting to meet with our Reading Mentors this week. This is a new program to Lee where volunteer mentors will read and build special relationships with our young students. If you are interested in becoming a reading mentor, please contact Kathleen Hanberg at the Canby Center by email at Kathleen@TheCanbyCenter.Org
or by phone at 503.313.2845. This program is fabulous for our students in many ways…one of which is helping them to love reading! ♥
Another important way we are helping students improve their learning is by the work we do each Wednesday morning during late start. Each Wednesday, from 8:00-9:00am, teachers spend time working together in grade level teams or specialty teams to critically look at student data and determine changes to make to best meet student needs. This is a valuable time for our teachers for many reasons! For me, this time is critical, as often it is the only time during the week that we are all in the same place talking about student strengths, struggles, and interventions together. Thank you for providing this gift of time for our schools and our students!
Have a great week,
